Russian Store at a Mall!

In Moscow the stores are huge and full of merchandise. My wife got this picture taken before the security guards got grouchy with us. This was just before Christmas.

Svet found a clear spot and snapped a picture before the crowds merged back in.

Moscow Metro: Very Long Escalator!

In the Moscow Metro the Escalators are sometimes unimaginable long. They seems to travel to the center of the Earth! :)

From Russia: Ice Skate Rink Done By Hand!

Hello,

This is the ice skating rink that is near where we live. It is set up for hockey playing by the local childrens teams but everyone just loves to play on the ice.

These men work on this rink everyday trying to make a good ice skating rink. I think that they are doing a good job.

I posted an article over a year ago about the fun of trying to create an ice skating rink from this soccer field. (Link)

Looks good now, they are getting better.

From Russia: The Last Toy Store Carousel!

I know this is not an individual photo but I still think that it is the best spot to post this video.

I made this tiny video of a Merry-Go-Round in a Toy store that has been destroyed now. The last I heard it was being destroyed for modern stores. I was appalled at the thought and do not understand what is in peoples minds when they destroy things like this. This store is a Soviet Era store and was incredible.

The video is poor quality because it was taken on a cheap digital camera but I am glad that I got it because the store is no more.

This was a true fairyland for children and there are not many like it left in the world.

It seems a shame that we destroy all our past for a small future gains...

From Russia: Russia is Full of WWII Monuments!

Hello,

When Svetlana and I travel by car around Russia, we stop at every WWII monument we can and sometimes that seems to be all we do. But we feel that these monuments are important and people should see what the Soviet Union made to show appreciation to the veterans and fallen ones of WWII! (It is good to see that Russia tries to preserve the history from the WWII.)

Most of the monuments are very well cared for and have a very significant point in history and almost every town and village in Russia proclaim some battle to be the most important battle of WWII. :)

That is what I love about Russia...

New Camera Phone for Taking Lots of Pictures of Russia!

Today Boza and I went for a walk to try out our new toy. For my birthday Svet got me a new cell phone with a 3 mega pixel camera. Svet got me a Samsung U800 Soulb (soulbee) phone. Wow what a phone and it takes great pictures. No more will I be with out a camera :) and not be able to get pictures of cars trying to run over people on the sidewalks. "Russia be aware I have a cell phone camera now!"

This came about because I saw that a Blog (actually two blogs) that I follow was having way to much fun with a cell phone camera. My Mobile Blog & My life in Bergen, a photoblog! Bskaad is always taking pictures with a cell phone and I wanted to also.

It seems that my sweetie figured this out and bought me the best cell phone I ever had. I has a total of 3 gigabytes of memory so I can take full 3 mega pixel pictures and not run out of storage.

So here are the first pictures that I have taken with the new camera phone.
